The Pull List! July 29, 2009

In The Pull List! on July 27, 2009 at 3:17 pm

Well, folks, it’s that time again, where we take a look at the comics you need to pick up.  Marvel did exactly as we expected, dumping every single “Dark Reign” related book this week, as well as finally releasing the final issue of the easily forgotten “Ultimatum” event.  Meanwhile DC actually eased off it’s current event, “Blackest Night”, probably because it’s two strongest books, “Superman” and “Detective Comics” come out this week.  All in all, a somewhat disappointing week for the Marvel Zombies, but Johnny DCs are going to be foaming at the mouth.  Hit the jump to find out what’s notable this week, and remember that just because I didn’t put it on the list doesn’t mean it isn’t good.

Correction!

bwculsmCully Hamner impressed the shit out of us in his Question second feature in Detective Comics last week, and I gushed over it repeatedly in the review.

Unfortunately, I was so busy being amazed by his work that I gushed over it repeatedly referring to him as Curly Hammer.  Which is really depressing and embarrassing on my part…especially when Mr. Hamner was the one to point it out in the comments!

So, the article in question has been fixed, and many apologies to Mr. Hamner.  Many thanks also for visiting the site.  We’ll be sure to get it right in the future.

Colors: Dave Stewart

With “Batman Reborn” sweeping the DC Universe, the most drastic change has been in the much anticipated revamp of Detective Comics.  Kate Kane, first introduced in the critically acclaimed 52, takes center stage as the much neglected Batwoman.  Its a character that’s received a lot of fan support, but has only shown up in a few places and has yet to be really fleshed out as a charcter, aside from being “Renee Montoya’s ex-girlfriend”. The Pull List! Week of June 24, 2009

In Comic Reviews on June 21, 2009 at 10:25 pm

Good lord! Marvel comics must be hemorrhaging money. In addition to having three times as many titles as DC does on this week’s Pull List, over a quarter of those titles are new releases or title changes related to the “Dark Reign” event that, let’s face it, most people wish would end! Its a pretty big list this week, Marvel comes in on top with 30 titles, while DC puts out 11 titles. Hey, quality over quantity folks. Don’t forget: just because it isn’t on the list doesn’t mean it isn’t good.
