Batgirl Speculation Continues!

In Comic News on June 8, 2009 at 2:57 pm

SOURCE: The Source » Let’s speculate a bit more about BATGIRL, shall we?.

DC has decided to tease us a bit more about who the new Batgirl is, releasing its second teaser image.

As opposed to the first one, this image features (presumably) the new Batgirl wearing the classic Barbara Gordon costume, though the boots are a little different. Its pretty sad, but the identity of the new Batgirl seems to have become a bigger mystery for the titles than who the new Batman was.

Batgirl #1 is slated to arrive this August.

Well, its a huge week for comics this week. Azrael: Death’s Dark Knight and Oracle: The Cure both end their mini series, signaling the end of Battle For The Cowl is near (next week, to be exact). Meanwhile, Marvel has pushed back the conclusion of Old Man Logan, while Punisher: Frank Castle wraps up its initial arc, and we get some fun with the pet sidekicks of Marvel characters. In Comic News on May 8, 2009 at 8:40 am

DCU’s The Source Blog continues teasing the new Batgirl on-going today: they’ve just released information on the upcoming titles creative team.

Bryan Q. Miller, who wrote a few episodes of Smallville this season, handles the writing chores, as well as taking on a three-issue Teen Titans arc this July.

The art will be handled by Lee Garbett, who was a regular artist for The Outsiders, will be handling the art, while his The Outsiders collaborator Trevor Scott will be doing the inks work.

The Source also confirms that the previously released image (seen below) is the cover art for issue #1, and was done by Phil Noto.

Who's That Girl?

In Comic News on May 4, 2009 at 9:15 pm

DCU’s The Source blog is at it again, releasing this little number….

Batgirl?

The blog features a Batgirl wearing a modified Batgirl costume as worn by Cassandra Cain, but who’s really in the costume?  Cassandra herself has been a bit more up front recently, taking an active role in assembling heroes to defend Gotham during Batman’s absence, but Barbara Gordon/Batgirl I is currently in her own mini-series which many speculate will end in Barbara getting her legs back.  Who exactly is in the suit is up in the air still, but DC seems content to milk it for what its worth.  Hopefully within the next month or so, when the new Batgirl on-going begins, we’ll get a definite answer, but until then, feel free to light up the comments below with your speculation.
