Musicians You Should Know – He is Legend

In Musicians You Should Know on July 16, 2009 at 4:44 pm

He+Is+Legend This week’s focus is He is Legend, a rock  band from North Carolina.  Hit the jump to find out why you should know about this band.

He is Legend have roots that go all the way back to the late 90’s when the band began initially preforming in Wilmington, NC while they were still in high school. Just like most bands do when starting out, He is Legend went though a variety of band names before finally deciding on a final choice. As you may see, He is Legend is a take on the 1954 book I am Legend.

Their first release was an EP called 901025.  After some time, the band signed with Solid State Records and released their first full-length album, I Am Hollywood.  After two years of enduring a relentless touring schedule and a near break up, He is Legend finally released their second album called Suck Out the Poison.

Since the release of Suck out the Poison, the band experienced a change in lineup. Guitarist McKenzie Bell left the band without much explanation. Regardless, He is Legend continued to roll and are now on the verge of releasing their third album that is called It Hates You. The album is set to release on July 21st, 2009.

I initially heard this band on a road trip to Ohio. I think we played Eating a Book from I Am Hollywood over the course of the entire trip. I heard the song so much, I decided I should probably give the rest of the album a shot. I have been a fan ever since. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out as soon as you can.
